Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople stated on late Wednesday. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his valued colleagues.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”

This update on his health comes as the sports world shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
