The British government is prepared to move forward with employing the full worth of seized Russian holdings to support Ukraine's war effort, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the heads of state of the Britain, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this coordinated action would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in strong partnership with the United States.

UK sanctions have frozen in excess of £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government launched its comprehensive attack against Ukraine in 2022. Yet, up to this point, funds allocated to Ukraine using Russian assets had exclusively been sourced from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir informed President Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their aim to drive progress toward using the total worth of the seized Russian sovereign funds to halt hostilities.

He stated that further restrictions over the next period would heighten the tension on Russia.

This announcement is subsequent to European representatives gathered in Copenhagen recently to discuss employing seized Russia's assets for a €140 billion credit to the Ukrainian nation.

In the previous month, US President Donald Trump urged Group of Seven partners to seize or employ immobilized Russian holdings, according to news outlets.

The worth of frozen Russia's holdings in the European Union is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

A pair of individuals were fatally injured and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, authorities in Ukraine reported.

In a message on X after the attack, Zelensky wrote that the cynical and calculated attack focused on non-military and power facilities.

"The necessity is not empty words but firm measures - from the America, the European Union, and the seven nations - in supplying defense mechanisms and implementing restrictions," he wrote.

"All penalty impositions weakens the Russian war effort," Zelensky noted, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed reporters he would encourage Sir Keir to participate in the Purl programme, under which Nato countries buy arms from the America to give to the Ukrainian forces.

While praising the UK's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the system, as well as apply additional restrictions on Russia.
