LA Explodes in Celebration as Los Angeles Dodgers Claim Back-to-Back World Series Victory
The City of Angels witnessed widespread celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched a thrilling seven-match World Series title. Supporters across the globe joined Angelenos in celebration, marking the first time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.
Victory Parade Attracts Enormous Turnout
Los Angeles area celebrations featured a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a reserved-seating event at the team's home stadium, and impromptu gatherings throughout the city.
Social media videos show countless of Los Angeles residents packing city center avenues, many carrying homemade signs and team flags. The team was seen traveling proudly on a double-decker bus through the masses, hoisting the Commissioner’s trophy high.
“I’m already thinking about the third time we’re going to do this,” the star player stated through an translator.
The procession path ended at Dodger Stadium, where the players emerged to Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” with the renowned DJ providing music and the artist cruising a light blue classic car around the field.
Early Celebrations and Player Reactions
Celebrations began prior to the procession, with supporters setting off flares in the streets of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto, named the World Series’ Most Valuable Player, spoke directly about the victory.
“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto said. “I love the Dodgers. I love Los Angeles.”
Mixed Reactions and Community Spirit
However, Mark Walter was met with a cooler welcome at the rally. Video footage from the gathering appear to show him walking onstage to a mix of applause and boos, with jeers interrupting his address.
The championship acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for the city. An estimated quarter-million people showed up to the Dodgers’ victory parade last year, and according to team member Freddie Freeman, fans this year demonstrated as much if not more enthusiasm.
“It seems it’s nearly twice from last year,” Freeman said. “The supporters are incredible. It’s so awesome to be a part of this.”
