Jennifer Lawrence States Mentioning Trump Would ‘Worsen the Situation’ Dividing the Country Apart
Lawrence has expressed that she believes it's no longer suitable to voice opinions countering the Trump administration, worried it could intensify unhelpful debate and deepen rifts within the country.
‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Explains the Actress
In a recent interview, she commented, “When Trump was first in office, I felt like I was moving hastily without clear direction. But experience has shown, through repeated campaigns, public figures fail to influence whatsoever on who people vote for.”
Lawrence added, “What’s the point? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to heighten conflict tearing the country apart.”
Political Evolution
Jennifer Lawrence has previously been open about backing Republican and Democratic contenders over the years. Brought up by conservative Republicans in her home state, she cast her ballot for the Republican nominee in 2008 before joining the Democratic party and explaining she recognized during President Obama’s term that supporting the GOP was voting against her personal freedoms as a female citizen.
Previous Comments
In 2015, she remarked that Donald Trump’s election might signal “a disaster” and backed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. More recently, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “as I believe she’s an excellent choice and I trust that she will do whatever she can to defend women’s health rights.”
Industry Position
Lawrence was aligned with most of Hollywood in her rejection of Trump as a presidential contender, but the minimal impact celebrities have over the public choices was highlighted by Trump’s victory.
“This upcoming term seems distinct,” said she regarding Trump’s presidency. “Because he made his plans clear. We understood his record for the previous administration. He was explicit. And that’s the option selected.”
Latest Film
The actor is discussing the drama, Lynne Ramsay’s project in which she plays a young mom who deals with her psychological well-being in the countryside. At a interview session for the movie in the film festival, the star addressed the conflict in Gaza: “I’m terrified. It’s horrifying. What’s happening is equivalent to a humanitarian crisis and it’s horrible.”
Wider Issues
Lawrence added by expressing that she was disappointed by “the hostility in the discourse of the political landscape right now and how that is going to be commonplace to the children right now. It’s going to be standard to them that politicians lie.”
The actor attempted to refocus anger about the conflict to decision-makers rather than actors and artists. “Concentrate on the people in charge,” she advised, in what many took to be a nod to the declaration supported by numerous entertainment industry figures to avoid Israeli film institutions.
Relatable Experiences
Lawrence, who received an Academy Award aged 22 for her performance in the acclaimed film, is receiving praise for her work in her latest project. Although the director has disputed the plot being understood as one of postpartum depression and psychological distress, she said that she did relate to parts of her film narrative after the birth of her youngest child, not long after filming concluded.
“There was concern for my son,” she explained, “envisioning every worst-case scenario, and then second-guessing everything that I was trying. I was receiving counseling, but I began using a drug called that medicine and I continued it for a short period and it was effective.”
Professional Experiences
Jennifer Lawrence also discussed of the liberating necessity of filming without clothes in the movie while she was in pregnancy and unable to exercise.
“It feels nice,” she commented, about having to cast off vanity. “I mean, I do have moments where I’m like, What technically are the differences between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t trouble me deeply.”
