Recent details have emerged concerning the untimely demises of renowned director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Discovery

A source indicates citing a person close to the family, a therapist scheduled for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after being unable to gain access the house. The practitioner then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides close by.

Upon entering the residence, Romy found her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Another individual who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of murder in the first degree, as well as the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is now detained and denied bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick lived in a detached unit on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that time.

The source also disputed widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "worried" about Nick's actions in the preceding period. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction also extends to reports of reportedly "erratic" behavior by Nick at a gathering held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were not in a position to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that suggestions of a "heated argument" between the two were not correct.

Investigation Timeline

As stated by law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had not yet established at that point whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, roughly 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
