Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at Age 60.
Stateside performer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series including "Friends", "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.
The comedic improv actor passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California recently having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to reports.
"He saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a message.
They added that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
An Extensive Television Career
Finn's first television role was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he played the brother of the main character.
He subsequently landed a recurring role on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.
He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.
In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several popular shows, like:
- The King of Queens
- "Friends"
- That '70s Show
- House, M.D.
His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits include It's Complicated (2009) and "Santa Paws 2".
Off-Screen Life
Beyond his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.
He was part of a six-person improv troupe named Beer Shark Mice.
"He taught, supported, and inspired many learners over the years and it's nearly impossible to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind remarked there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Perpetually optimistic, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
